Romantic Experience at Divine Llama Vineyards in East Bend, North Carolina

Divine Llama Vineyards in East Bend

It’s not long in the grand scheme of things, that isn’t what I am celebrating, but it’s been a beautiful year since I have been with my favorite person. This past Saturday to celebrate our relationship, he took me to the Divine Llama Vineyards in East Bend, North Carolina, and yes, there were real llamas.

We got to the Divine Llama winery a little after noon and thankfully the weather was near-perfect. The clouds kept the sun from beating down too bad and at the top of the winery where the bars are, a light breeze came through.

Sugar Bear and I grabbed two flights (basically every single wine on the menu!) and took a seat in the beautiful, shaded lounge area that overlooks the grape vines off to the left. We talked about what a perfect spot this would make for a fall evening with a fire pit, it was beautiful, social, and cozy. Unfortunately, the winery closes at 6, but hopefully, they consider that in the future.

Anyways, we took in the view, sipping the wines from left to right, beginning with the white wines and ending on a rose and another white. You can find a list of the wines here and I meant to ask if they rotate these or if this is always their menu. There wasn’t a food truck when we visited, but they did mention typically on Saturdays and Sundays they do have a food truck.

Now the decision was unanimous, my person and I agreed the very last wine, the Versailles – “Si” was our favorite. When I tell you this wine smells and tastes like gummi bears, I am not exaggerating. The wine “named after the West’s youngest daughter’s show llama, Si is the newest wine made by Divine Llama Vineyards. A blend of 90% TRAMINETTE and 10% peach juice to compliment the floral TRAMINETTE aromas.

Notes of: screams PEACH!”

I bought a bottle of it to bring home and we broke into it later that evening while we were cooking dinner!

After we finished our tasting, we walked down past the vineyards to walk up the gravel road where we were welcomed by Shetland ponies and a donkey name Bucky. The Llamas roamed past the horses and Mr. Bucky, many of who were soaking in the shade in their barn. It was hot in their fields, the breeze had ended up on the hill and those babies were filling it!

As hard as I tried, none of the fuzzy critters even came close to my outstretched hand. I tried not to take it personally and my person attempted multiple times to get one to come near us but they ignored our attempts. Still, they are some cute butts!

Divine Llama Vineyards also offers Llama Trekking and that is booked up through December of 2021, but that is certainly on my radar to do!

After the winery and seeing animals we ventured into a part of Winston Salem I hadn’t explored before. Reynolda Village has multiple shops and cute restaurants, we came upon it by accident and popped into the Village Tavern for a delicious lunch of a fresh Grilled Chicken Salad and Sugars enjoyed some Filet Mignon Tacos with Rice Pilaf.

We both agreed that we plan on doing some local exploration more, especially to local wineries!
